2024 Kick-Off: Team BtG Goes to Vietnam
In the spirit of fostering camaraderie and celebrating our collective achievements, the Bridging the Gap Team embarked on a memorable journey to the bustling metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam last 02 to 05 January 2024. From exploring the vibrant streets to savoring local delicacies and engaging in team-building activities, our time in this dynamic city was nothing short of exhilarating. Join us as we relive the highlights of our unforgettable Team Retreat that left us with lasting memories and strengthened bonds.
Day 1: A Warm Saigon Welcome
From Singapore, we have boarded a smooth 2-hour flight via Singapore Airlines and touched down Vietnam on a beautiful afternoon. Our adventure kicked off with the warm embrace of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, marking the beginning of our exciting escapade in Saigon. The air was filled with anticipation as we settled into our centrally located accommodations, strategically chosen to immerse us in the heart of the city’s energy.
Straight from the airport, we journeyed towards Sofitel Saigon Plaza. It was an impressive 5-star hotel located at the heart of the city. The famous tourist spots were much accessible from this beautiful hotel. Not only that, but it also had excellent facilities and good food.
After settling in our lovely rooms, the team was set to have a blast on our first night with our first adventure – the Motorbike Food Tour! It was one for the books! Hopping on motorbikes as professional riders toured us around Saigon at night was an amazing experience. Of course, the goal was more than that! It was to try the best local Vietnamese food. We got to taste not one, not even two…but around 11 Vietnamese dishes. I guess we ended the first night of the trip with a full stomach and loads of core memory to look back.

Our clinical director, Teacher Janice (together with her lovely children) delighting over a Vietnamese dessert — Banana Sticky Rice.

Of course, being in the city calls for a bite of Bánh Mì! The sandwiches are made with fresh baguettes, homemade pate, pork, and pickled vegetables.

Definitely a must-try! The Motorbike Food Tour experience made us have a glimpse of both the beauty of Saigon’s city and culture.
Day 2: Mekong Delta Expedition
Our adventure extended beyond the city limits as we set sail for the Mekong Delta. The enchanting landscapes, floating markets, and lush greenery painted a picturesque backdrop for a day of relaxation and exploration.
Cruising through the delta’s intricate waterways, we revelled in the serenity that contrasted the hustle and bustle of Saigon.
We also stopped by some villages where we got to have an immersive experience of local lifestyle, livelihood, products and some dishes.
Day 3 & 4: Free & Easy Day!
After days of exploration and team-building, we decided to take it easy on the third and fourth day. The team had the option to choose between spa sessions, leisurely strolls through the city’s parks, or simply relaxing by the pool. This allowed everyone to recharge and reflect on the experiences of the trip.
Everyone went to visit the must-see sites in Saigon including The Notre dame Cathedral, Buu Dien Saigon, Ho Chi Minh Statue, Book Street, War Remnants Museum and so much more!
Of course, shopping has to be in the bucket list! Exploring Ben Thanh Market and Saigon Square was fun, not to mention — buying good deals was quite memorable.

A fun shopping time for souvenirs, local goodies, clothings and a lot more at Ben Thanh Market. Here’s a memorable moment with friendly sellers of Vietnamese coffee and cashew nuts!
Our trip to Ho Chi Minh City was more than just a getaway; it was an immersive experience that strengthened our professional relationships and created enduring memories. From the vibrant streets of Saigon to the tranquil beauty of the Mekong Delta, each day brought new adventures that showcased the diversity and warmth of Vietnam. As we bid farewell to this captivating city, we carry with us not only the experiences but also the strengthened bonds that will continue to fuel our collective success.
What a way to kick-off 2024! The three hundred over days ahead of us might not be easy and smooth-sailing, especially in the field of providing intervention to children with diverse needs in Singapore. However, Bridging the Gap Team Retreat 2024 has given us a heads up that we are all together in this. As a team, we can continue to make a difference together.
Ho Chi Minh City, you have left an indelible mark on our team’s journey and for that, we say, “Cám ơn và chào tạm biệt” – thank you and farewell!
