Stronger Twogether: An 8th Anniversary Special

“When was your last movie date with your spouse?”

This was the question posed to parents, prompting heartfelt reflection. While some couples had managed to go out a few weeks or months ago, many shared that it had been quite some time since their last movie date.

“Six years ago…”
“Before my child was born…”

Many parents expressed that once they started having children, they no longer had the luxury of time for date nights. These are real and valid challenges, and they are not uncommon—especially for families living in Singapore or even in other parts of the world. The demands of parenting often take precedence, and husbands and wives may unintentionally neglect their time together as they focus on their responsibilities.

The Heart Behind Stronger Twogether

At Bridging the Gap (BtG), we have always been strong advocates for nurturing family relationships, recognising that a strong family foundation is essential for a child’s development. Since our inception, BtG has journeyed alongside parents, supporting their children with developmental needs. One thing remains certain—when parents are united and in harmony, their children thrive.

As BtG celebrates its 8th anniversary, we wanted to create an opportunity for parents to reconnect, spend quality time as a couple, and strengthen their role as the pillars of the family.

Happy Parents, Happy Kiddos

On March 9, 2025, Bridging the Gap brought families together for a heartwarming event—Stronger Twogether: A Spedtacular Movie Day. Held at Golden Village City Square Mall, this special gathering gave parents a rare chance to relax and reconnect while enjoying the inspiring film The Unbreakable Boy.

As parents settled into their cozy seats at Cinema 6, they were treated to a special couple’s combo set, making the experience feel like a well-deserved movie date. The Unbreakable Boy, a film about resilience, love, and embracing uniqueness, deeply resonated with many attendees, sparking reflection and heartfelt conversations.

Meanwhile, their children were having an equally exciting time at the BtG Centre (CSM). The little ones enjoyed a fun-filled theme party, filled with laughter, engaging activities, and Happy Meals. It was a perfect balance—while parents unwound, kids had their own adventure.

Celebrating Togetherness & Community

The event wasn’t just about the movie; it was a celebration of togetherness, resilience, and the strong support system within the BtG community.

A special highlight was the inspirational message from Janice Tay, as well as an insightful talk from guest speaker Elim Chew, who shared powerful words on bridging generations, empowering one another, and building a supportive community to raise children and create lasting impact.

A Movie That Touched Hearts

Parents and attendees shared their key takeaways from The Unbreakable Boy:

“Believe in your child— they will teach you things you may never have seen before.”
— Shared by a mother, eyes brimming with emotion.

“It’s important to take one day at a time and see life through our child’s perspective.”
— A parent reflecting on the film’s message.

“Enjoy the moment.”
— A father’s heartfelt realisation after watching the movie.

These were all timely reminders for parents navigating the joys and challenges of raising children.

Looking Ahead

As Bridging the Gap continues its mission of empowering families and children, events like Stronger Twogether serve as a reminder that no journey is walked alone. Here’s to more moments of learning, bonding, and celebrating togetherness!

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
