“With Bridging the Gap, we have “hope”.

“Hope, because before we were quite lost.”

These simple yet powerful words from Lara’s mum capture the heart of their journey.

When Lara first joined Bridging the Gap, her family faced many uncertainties. “Lara was very unmanageable and would be all over the place,” mummy shared. Communication was challenging, and it was difficult to know how best to support her.

Today, Lara’s mum proudly reflects on the progress she has witnessed. “Lara is now making a concerted effort to be still… to understand what you are trying to say.” What may seem like small steps to others have meant the world to her family.

But beyond the progress, what touched them most was feeling truly seen and understood.

“The greatest thing the BtG team has done is to understand.”

For Lara’s mum, this understanding changed everything. “She is not a bad child… not a naughty child… it is something she cannot control herself.” Having a team that looked beyond behaviors and saw Lara for who she truly is gave her family comfort, confidence, and reassurance.

“They are there to understand Lara, to help her have confidence to be a better person.”

And perhaps the greatest gift of all is hope.
