Teachers’ Day is more than a day to celebrate teachers. It is also a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect with the purpose behind the work we do each day.

At Bridging the Gap, this year’s Teachers’ Day brought the team together for a day of reflection, learning, collaboration, and plenty of laughter. From a meaningful training session to ending the day with an exciting team activity, it was a day that reminded us that “Teaching is not something we do alone, it is a journey we share as a team”.

Connecting on the “Why”

The day began with a meaningful session facilitated by Teacher Suet Leng, Head of Programmes, Head of Allied Team and Principal Speech & Language Therapist. The session began with a simple but powerful reflection: “Connecting on the Why.” Teachers were invited to think about the little wins they have experienced in their work, not only in a child’s development and growth, but also in the relationships built with families along the way.

The session also highlighted the importance of teamwork. Supporting a child’s development takes more than one person. Teachers, therapists and families each play an important role and working together allows us to provide more consistent and meaningful support for every child.

This naturally led into important discussions on Child Safety Policy and the Code of Conduct & SOP’s, serving as a timely reminder that our responsibility extends beyond teaching. Creating a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment is at the heart of what we do. Teachers’ Day therefore became a valuable opportunity to step back from our daily routines and reconnect with our purpose as educators.

Lunch, Munch and Meaningful Connections

After a morning of reflection and learning, it was time to slow down, enjoy some food, and simply connect.

Over lunch, teachers had the chance to catch up, share conversations, discuss upcoming events, and work together outside of the usual classroom setting. These moments of connection are just as important as formal training. They allow the team to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas, and build a stronger sense of togetherness.

Bringing Out the Fun Side at PLAYON

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the visit to PLAYON, where teachers stepped away from their usual roles and let their playful sides take over! Through interactive games and activities, the team had the opportunity to laugh, compete, encourage one another, and simply have fun together. It was a refreshing reminder that teamwork is not only built through meetings and training, it can also grow through shared experiences, laughter, and a little friendly competition.

For 2 hours, the teachers were no longer just educators supporting children through their developmental journeys. They were teammates, friends, and fellow participants having fun together.

This Teachers’ Day was a reminder that “Teaching is indeed the work of the heart”. It is about celebrating the little wins, supporting one another, partnering with families, and continuing to learn and grow.

At Bridging the Gap, we are grateful for the dedication, patience, and heart that each teacher brings to their work every day. Because behind every child’s progress is a team of people who believe in them, walk alongside them, and celebrate every step forward.

Happy Teachers’ Day to our amazing BtG team!
